Things to Consider Before Getting LASIK

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to wake up in the middle of the night and read the clock on your night stand without first donning your glasses? Or, maybe you long to see well enough to put on your make-up without first needing to put in your contacts? If these scenarios, as there are several steps you can take to ensure you have a qualified LASIK surgeon well as many other daily activities, make you long to live life without contacts or glasses then it might be time to talk to your optometrist about LASIK surgery. However, you cannot simply decide you want LASIK, and go out and get it. There are a variety of prerequisites to be met. A few things to be considered before talking to your doctor are:

• Does your job prohibit you refractive surgery?
• Can you afford the procedure?
• Do you have any autoimmune diseases, chronic illness or major health concerns that could impeded the healing process or recovery?
• Has your prescription changed recently?
• Do you have dry eyes or an eye condition other than vision impairment?

3. Remember, cheaper is not necessarily better. You get what you pay for and when it comes to your eyes you want the best. Ask about payment plans, many LASIK surgeons offer them.

4. When you find a LASIK surgeon who meets these criteria, begin the process of scheduling and pre-op process.

5. LASIK surgery is one of the greatest advancements in the field of optometry, but not one to be entering blindly. Take your time, do some research, and make sure that you are totally at ease with the doctor you select-after all, your eyes are worth it!
