Companies will usually define areas as having a maximum size and rooms greater than this maximum are typically counted as 2 areas. Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) certified firms must demonstrate proof of insurance, maintain a written customer complaint policy with documented follow-up and provide ongoing education and training for all technicians. They are also required to abide by the IICRC Code of Ethics.
Technicians IICRC certified: Just because the firm is certified, doesn't mean that the technician performing the work on your house has been certified as a Carpet Cleaning Technician. Certified technicians should be able to provide proof of certification to customers.
