When a tooth is removed, it can be replaced with a crown mounted to an implant. Implants are the foundation for crowns. Crowns are artificial replacement teeth and are alternatives to dentures. Implants are joined to crowns with an abutment. Implants are surgically placed into the bone where the tooth once was.
