If you are wondering where the term Black Friday came from you’ve finally found the answer. Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving when the traditional Christmas shopping season begins. Many people are off work the day after Thanksgiving so they start shopping. It’s known as Black Friday because it designates the time when many retailers are finally in the black financially. Many believe that this is the busiest shopping day of the year, and sometimes it is, but usually the busiest day is the Saturday before Christmas. We now have “Cyber Monday” which is the first work day after Thanksgiving and it’s becoming one of the busiest online shopping days of the year.

There was a time when I moved myself when I relocated from home to home. I was younger then and with the help of a couple of friends – who were only paid in pizza – we moved my possessions. With the holidays in full swing now many of us will be traveling more, and with lower gas prices travel may be even higher than expected. With all the extra cars on the road there will be more opportunities for tragedy. The obvious suggestions for staying safe still hold: Don’t drink and drive, slow down, etc. But you should also watch for other drivers that may not be accustomed to driving on the highways or are not in areas they are familiar with. There are the drivers that may slam on their brakes or cut across many lanes of traffic when they realize they’ve just missed their exit.
Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving and make sure to take some time to think about all the goods things and people in your life.
