Finding a Termite Control and Prevention Company

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009

You want to protect your home or business investments the best way you know how, whether is through outward upkeep like painting, vinyl siding or roofing or through “hidden” features like pest and termite control. But what is the criteria for selecting a reliable company for termite control. We have all see the commercials for large termite control companies, but is it absolutely necessary to use a national chain? No, it isn’t. There are many qualified local companies that often charge a great deal less than the national termite control and prevention companies for the same service.

As you begin your search for the ideal termite control and prevention company, keep these facts in mind:

  • You don’t need to be overly alarmed; termites work slowly, so the building will not collapse overnight.
  • Take your time and select the company right for you. Plan to talk to at least 3 companies as well as get input from friends, family, neighbors, or checking online for websites like LocalPrice out of Atlanta. Termite control companies are everywhere, so you can be selective and get the plan that is just right for your needs.

Termite Company Hiring Tips and Concerns

Once you have a few termite control and prevention company suggestions, ask the company’s representative about the following:

  • Will I get a written report stating any of these situations?
    • Location of active or inactive infestations
    • How many treatments will be needed?
    • What will the cost be?
    • Explanation of treatment methods or options
  • What type of guarantee does the company have?
  • Ask about the companies licensing. Talk to the Better Business Bureau or state licensing agency to find out if there are any reports.

As a final precaution, avoid companies that press for a quick sale of services/contract, use scare tactics, or offer an immediate special…if you sign today. Take care of your home and it will take care of you. With just a little time, you can keep your home pest free!

With warm weather right around the corner many of us want to get in shape for summer. Here are a few tips for getting in shape for less money.

Cancel Your Gym Membership and Get Outside
If you’ve been in the gym too long it’s time to cancel that expensive membership and get outside. The outdoors is good for the soul and it’s free. With new parks popping up everywhere there’s more places than ever to stretch your legs. From riding your bike to walking to playing Frisbee there are dozens of things you can do outside that are fun and will help you drop a few pounds for summer.

Eat out less
If you eat out five times per week at an average of $20 per meal that’s almost $5000 per year. By eating out less you’ll improve your health and save enough money to build up a nice savings account. By eating out less you’ll also enjoy the times you do go out more.

Volunteer with Kids
Children have loads of energy and if you’re around them you’ll have to expend more energy to keep up with them. From helping with a local scout troup to coaching a sports team there’s something for you. By volunteering with kids you’re doing something great and burning calories too.
