To leave a review, users must simply find the profile page for the business they would like to review and click  the ‘Create a review’ link.  A section of the page will appear like the one pictured here.  Reviews must comply with our review guidelines.  Once the review is complete, the user has created a LocalPrice user account and verified their email address, the review will be published.

Though LocalPrice also re-pubslishes reviews of businesses from other websites – more to come on this topic – the reviews left directly on LocalPrice will reflect the direct experience of LocalPrice users.  In some cases, they may shed light on information on the businesses’ LocalPrice listing.  Reviews can reward the businesses our users have find that deliver excellent services.  Reviews will also give our users who may have had a negative experience outlet to share feedback with the business and with fellow LocalPrice users.

We encourage our users to come back and review each business they find on LocalPrice.  Give it a shot and comment below to let us know what you think.

Let's Look at the Cost of Shutters in Atlanta

Sunday, July 5th, 2009

Window shutters can be a great convenience around your Atlanta home, allowing quick privacy while adding to the decor of any interior environment. If properly chosen, a good shudder won’t only help your home look good, but it will help it to feel more comfortable both for your family and for your guests. But what exactly can you expect to pay for a shutter here in Atlanta, and in the surrounding areas?

A good shutter or pair of shutters should probably cost you around twenty dollars a square foot – many places feature discounts that dock the cost of each shutter the more you buy. With this as your starting point, you should probably take a look around your house, consider how many windows you need covered, and then multiply by around thirty dollars or so. This will only give you an estimate of the cost of your shutters, but it will at least give you a starting point from which you can start shopping.

Once you have your budget in mind, you’re ready to look for the shutters that are right for you. Knowing your price range ahead of time will help you limit the field immediately – when you walk into a home furnisher, for example, you can simply tell them what your price range is and ask them to show you the best shutters they have for that price. If you’re shopping online at a national outlet, you can use “sort” features to make sure that you’re only looking at the shutters you can afford.

There will be some other factors in the cost of shutters – namely size and the amount of shutters you need. The bigger the shutters, the more you can expect them to cost. The more shutters you’re buying, the more you’ll spend, unless you find a generous discount.

Once you’ve found the shutters you like, you might consider trying just a few of them to make sure that you enjoy them in your house. If not, make sure that the outlet you’ve shopped at has a solid return policy, and make sure that you keep receipts (online receipts can usually be printed out).

What are the cost of shutters in Atlanta? It depends – not only on your house, but on you! Make sure you’re an active customer who knows what they’re looking for.

So, You want to Hire a Contractor…

Friday, March 13th, 2009

Reputable Home ContractorYou love your home-it is convenient to work and leisure activities, the neighborhood is great, and you like the school district; however, your home no longer to meets your family’s needs. Consequently, you decide it would be ideal if you could just knock out a wall and build another room. Sounds like a great plan…but now you are faced with a new dilemma, how to choose a contractor? This can be daunting, due to the many listings in the paper, the phonebook and online, so here are some guidelines to keep in mind before you sign the dotted line.

1. How old is the company? Using well-established contractors means that you will be able to check them out through the Better Business Bureau and the Federal Trade Commission.

2. Ask about licensing – Most states require current licensing and registration for anyone who does building, remodeling and repair work.

3. Will they provide you with at least 3 references? Ask for the names and locations of previous sites, then take time to go see their work, then ask the following:

• Were they satisfied?
• Was the job completed on time?
• Were you kept “in the know” of any problems and progress?
• Were they punctual?
• Would you hire them again? Why or why not?

4. If the contractor you hire is using sub-contractors, ask to meet them. Find out if they were paid on time. This is to protect yourself from a “merchant’s lien”. Also, ask the contractor to sign a lien waver or lien release. If the contractor won’t sign, then you shouldn’t either.

5. What type of insurance does the contractor have? Their insurance should include personal liability, workman’s compensation and property damage. Be sure to see the insurance certificates and check if they are current.

As you begin talking to potential contractors, be sure you aren’t “hammered by a scammer”. Be wary if any of the following occurs:

• Door to door solicitation
• Discounts given for finding additional customers
• Just happens to have materials left over from another job
• You have to get the building permit
• Company not listed in the phone book
• Says your job will be a demonstration
• Ask for entire payment upfront or only accepts cash
• High pressure for immediate commitment

There are many reputable home contractors available. So, do your homework by talking to people you know and checking out websites like LocalPrice.com and before you know it, your home can have that extra space.

Be Safe this Thanksgiving

Monday, November 24th, 2008

With the holidays in full swing now many of us will be traveling more, and with lower gas prices travel may be even higher than expected. With all the extra cars on the road there will be more opportunities for tragedy. The obvious suggestions for staying safe still hold: Don’t drink and drive, slow down, etc. But you should also watch for other drivers that may not be accustomed to driving on the highways or are not in areas they are familiar with. There are the drivers that may slam on their brakes or cut across many lanes of traffic when they realize they’ve just missed their exit.

Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving and make sure to take some time to think about all the goods things and people in your life.

Welcome
